Melanie Skoney, 85 of Aberdeen, MD died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She died due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. Melanie was born in Vienna, Austria, June 19, 1924 to Max and Anna Watzka. She was married to the late Sylvester A. Skoney.
Melanie is survived by her two children, Sylvia E. Matthews, daughter, of Aberdeen and Peter E. Skoney, son, of Toledo, Ohio. She is also survived by Frederick C. Matthews, son-in-law of Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Craig Skoney, of Detroit, MI; Melissa Skoney of Toledo, Ohio and four great-grandchildren. Melanie enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting. She mostly enjoyed being with her daughter and son-in-law.
The family will receive friends in the family owned Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A. 333 S. Parke St, Aberdeen on Monday, March 15 from 5-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Samuel V. Young will be celebrated Tuesday, March 16 at 10am in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 222 S. Law St, Aberdeen.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Season's Hospice of Elkton and staff. Also Betsy Tome, Nurse and in home care giver to Mrs. Skoney.
